Achieving Your Ambitious Vision
Depends on Cultivating a Culture of Trust & Care Where Collaboration & Innovation Can Emerge

As a visionary leader you recognize that the culture you nurture shapes the outcomes of your organization.

“Companies with strong cultures have seen a 4x increase in revenue growth.”
— Benjamin Laker, Forbes

But how do you cultivate trust & care when the traditional paradigm of competition and fear still runs beneath the surface

46% cited the unmet desire to work with people who trust and care for each other as yet another reason to quit.
— MIT Sloan, Attrition Study

In remote & hybrid environments it is even more challenging to build trust, care, & courage

50% of people who resigned during the pandemic didn’t feel valued & lacked a sense of belonging.
— The McKinsey Great Attrition Survey

Why?

People aren’t present!

The digital working environment creates distraction that seeps into every interaction, thus there tends to be a lack of presence needed to truly build a culture of care.

People don’t feel seen!

Sometimes the digital work environment means there IS NO relationship, which can leave people feeling diminished.

People don’t take the time to build relationships!

Deepening relationships takes time and sustained commitment but the digital working environment leans towards efficiency.

Conversation has been lost!

The digital age has affected our ability to hold meaningful effective conversations.

I felt more connected with my colleagues as a result.

If you want to build a culture of trust
you need …

To create the conditions to connect

more deeply and meaningfully

To create opportunities to reflect

together on our shared humanity

To create consistent structures

that over time say, yes, this is important

To work at the level of conversation

which is where power & ego unconsciously present blocks to connection

Every time two people talk with honesty and mutual understanding, they change the world by a minute amount; when they listen and say what is deepest inside them, they create equality between two people, more effectively than any law.
— Theodore Zeldin, Scholar

How Does It Work?

Conversation Incubators are a 12-month culture-building process for teams that cultivates trust and authentic connection.

Why food and conversation?

Bringing people together over food says, yes! we are all human and need to be nourished. And having an intentionally designed conversation creates the opportunity to reweave common humanity despite inevitable power dynamics.

What is a BreakBread Experience?

BreakBread is a type of conversation activation that creates the conditions to connect deeply while being nourished by a meal.

For two hours, a quiet oasis…

where you show up as you are –– to listen, share, laugh, and connect, enjoying one another’s presence and company. Each BreakBread experience revolves around a carefully crafted prompt that cuts past tiresome small talk.

A gently guided conversation…

inside a carefully crafted container of 6 or more people. For large groups, we start by gathering all together and then quickly breaking up into smaller groups of 6-8 so meaningful connection can root.

Every conversation unique…

sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s light, sometimes it’s like stumbling upon an unexpected inspiration that lingers long after the gathering is over.

You handle the food…

because each team in different, we collaborate with you to determine if BreakBread is in-person, virtual, simple or elegant.

I thought Martha, John and Francesca did an excellent job navigating the conversation! It was good to have you all lead the teams.

What is Embodied Conversation?

Embodied Conversation is a set of practices that help people to expand awareness so you can:

  • Claim Agency

  • Listen generously and with curiosity

  • Have more courage and kindness as they try new ways of being

  • Celebrate our own gifts and the gifts of others

Embodied Conversation is the practice of coming into relationship with ourselves and others and helps us to arrive and abide in our common humanity.

Well, that seems lofty! Is it though?

Our world is shifting, old paradigms are crumbling and the remote world has brought forth new challenges of connection – we often don’t realize how much these changes permeate our lives.

Without a clear shared paradigm and with less in person physical time, we ultimately reside in an uncomfortable disconnection.

If we don’t take time to reconnect to ourselves and others, then we won’t be able to collaborate and innovate in work, life, in our communities, and our families.

Embodied Conversation is a practice that challenges us to abide in the present while bringing mindful awareness into our day-to-day interactions offers us a choice to make a conversation and even our everyday interactions more meaning and nourishment..

I didn’t even know I was giving my power away.
